Description

Looking down the 15-inch Rodman Cannon towards the lighthouse at Fort Jefferson. Built over 30 years, the Fort was never finished, but did serve as a prison during the Civil War. Its most famous prisoner was Dr. Samuel Mudd, charged as a co-conspirator in the assignation of President Lincoln.
